MOSQUITO CONTROL

Mosquito Control in Glen Burnie, MD

Warrior Pest uses industry leading mosquito fogging and spraying techniques to keep mosquitos away, even after treatment

Why Do You Have Mosquitos?

As any local from Glen Burnie knows, mosquitoes are flying insects that swarm near our homes and around areas of standing water in overwhelming populations. Mosquitoes can be a nuisance in the home, but why are they so attracted to us? The answer lies in their search for food and breeding grounds. Mosquitoes are attracted to carbon dioxide, which we exhale when we breathe. They can smell it from up to 50 meters away! Mosquitoes also prefer warm temperatures and standing water, which is often found near our homes. Standing water provides them with breeding sites and a place to lay eggs that will later hatch into larvae. As well as carbon dioxide, mosquitoes are attracted to our sweat, perfumes, cosmetics, lotions and pH levels. All of these elements together make us an ideal target for hungry mosquitoes!

When you uncover a mosquito infestation occurring near your home, it is time to take action. Warrior Pest is a veteran-owned pest control company, devoted to providing effective pest solutions through quality, professionalism, and expert protection for area homes. Whether it's mosquitoes, ticks, or any other of Maryland's toughest pests, Warrior Pest has a solution for you. Contact us today to request a free phone estimate.

We Use Mosquito Treatments That Last

Mosquitos are most active from early spring to late fall, and that is why our program is designed to eliminate them during this time. Our initial service will inspect your property to detect where these pests are breeding and resting, and then we use specialized equipment to treat these areas. Areas of standing water will be eliminated and treated with a backpack mister, or we will make you aware of these areas if the fix is more complex. We also provide education on managing areas of standing water, such as:

  • Birdbaths
  • Buckets
  • Ponds
  • Pools

Our mosquito control program includes monthly treatments from March through October, and we offer year-round and one-time service options if needed. Our treatment starts at $49 per month or $588 annually, and you can add it to your general home pest control plan. Learn more about our mosquito control service by reaching out today.

Why Are Mosquitos So Dangerous?

Mosquitoes may be small but they are still considered dangerous pests. These biting insects have earned their reputation due to the number of deadly diseases they can transmit through their bites. Mosquitoes are known vectors for the illnesses listed below.

Chikungunya -

Chikungunya is an illness spread by mosquitos that causes fever, joint pain and even headaches. Although there's no specific treatment for it, supportive care can help with symptoms - so be sure to keep your bug spray handy if you're venturing into mosquito territory!

Encephalitis -

Encephalitis is a serious and potentially dangerous condition caused by an infection like a bad mosquito bite. Symptoms can range from fever to seizures, confusion or stiffness in the neck – long term neurological damage is also possible without treatment. Thankfully there are steps that you can take both to lower your own risk of developing encephalitis (staying up-to-date on vaccinations), as well as reducing its spread amongst others (washing hands regularly).

Dengue fever -

Dengue Fever is a serious viral infection spread by pesky mosquitoes. Symptoms can range from joint pain, muscle and bone aches to nausea and vomiting - making it very uncomfortable! Rest and fluids are the only way to treat dengue fever so don't forget those essential steps for recovery. To avoid catching this virus in the first place, make sure you use insect repellent when outdoors or living near high risk areas with lots of mosquitos buzzing around!

West Nile virus -

West Nile Virus is a mosquito-borne illness that typically causes symptoms such as fever, headache, body aches and fatigue. In some cases, more serious illnesses such as meningitis or encephalitis can occur. West Nile virus is most often spread through the bite of an infected mosquito and is found throughout the world. There is currently no vaccine for West Nile virus, but individuals who contract it may be treated with antiviral drugs if needed.

Zika virus -

Zika Virus is a frustratingly common virus spread by mosquitoes, intimate contact and blood transfusions. Its primary symptom of fever often comes with aches, rashes, headaches or eye irritation. Unfortunately there are no vaccines to protect against Zika but researchers are doing their best to find ways to both prevent transmission and reduce its effects on those who do contract it.
